Kolmanskop Ruins

Kolmanskop Ruins

Diamonds were discovered in Kolmanskop in 1908 and a village was built shortly after, consisting of a hospital, ballroom, power station school, skittle-alley, theatre, casino, ice factory and the first x-ray station in the southern hemisphere, as well as the first tram in Africa.

Of course the diamonds ran out and the town was left to be consumed by the desert.
